I had a wonderful snack this afternoon.

A baked sweet potato!!

It was soooo good - chock full of vitamins and yumminess.

And, best of all, FULL OF CARBS!!

This community looks great. I love carbs, and it greatly pisses me off that people are doing the low carb diet. People since the beginning of time have been eating carbs so why are they stopping all of a sudden? I've been eating carbs my whole life, and I'm doing just fine. It's just a scapegoat for fat people who don't feel like exercising. We NEED carbs and all of the other nutrients to keep us healthy. The only reason they are losing weight is because they are lacking important nutrition that their body needs. Pasta is amazing, so is bread. I like mashed potatoes too. I use to eat them every day in college. I would die if someone limited my carb intake.

Ok, I am SO GLAD I found this community.

Does anyone remember the early 90s, when everything became "low-fat" (and snack wells was the only way to go?)?? People lost weight back then because the amounts of foods available to us that were low fat were SELDOM.

HERES THE CATCH.
When people starting eating low or no-carbs, they began to lose weight. DUH, you can eat meat, vegetables, cheese, eggs, nuts, etc...but not a huge variety of foods. Therefore, if you eat eggs for breakfast, a salad for lunch, and some meat for dinner, YOU ARE ALSO CUTTING CALORIES. BUTTTTTT now that EVERY FOOD (pasta, bread, rice, menus at any restaurant) are Atkins friendly (low carb), we will begin to consume more and more food, thus INCREASING our caloric intake, thus we will probably begin to GAIN weight.

I have to admit, I dieted low-carb in high school to lose some weight. And yes it worked, I lost about 10 pounds in a month. But the thing is, this was before ALL FOOD was low-carb. And I eventually got sick of eating meat, so was eating salads twice a day, and maybe some cheese for dinner. DUH no wonder I lost weight, I wasn't EATING. And of course, after a week or two of eating normal foods and a normal amount of calories, I was back to my old weight.

I just wish society became a little smarter and recalled the early 90s when people started becoming FAT from low-fat foods...even if you eat all food that is low-fat or low-carb, if you eat 3000 to 4000 calories of it, and don't stay active, YOU WILL GAIN WEIGHT.

So, everyone needs to stop being lazy, increase their heart rate a bit, and maintain a well-balanced diet of FAT, CARBS, FRUIT, and VEGETABLES all in moderation. We also need all of these for our brains to properly function.

That just pisses me off. Children need all food groups to fully develop - of course a low-carb or low/high fat diet would be bad for them!

I have to say this.. loud and proud! May the Atkin sheep stone me (hey, that sounds like fun!)

I LOVES ME SOME CARBS!!

I just recently became a vegetarian, so a low-carb diet would be near impossible.
But I do not want to try!

I love cereal, I would eat it for every meal if too much of it didn't make me sick. Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, Corn Pops, Apple Jacks - just my favorites.

I love Toast! Toast toast toast!!

And... PIZZA!!

I'm also a giant fan of Italian food. J'adore!

I'm thoroughly convinced that if I called myself a doctor and told everyone that fried foods and M&M's made people loose weight, I could get a really good following.

Dr. Chelsey's fatty fried food and M&M's diet! It's not a diet - It's a way of life!!
